Convert!: Designing Web Sites to Increase Traffic and Conversion
A thorough, but not too-dense book on building websites that convert. Chapters are organized into 2 parts: designing for traffic and designing for conversion. The book introduces a very interesting concept called “The Awareness Ladder,” segmenting customers into 6 different categories to build appropriate web pages for. I highly recommend this book as an introduction to conversion optimization.
Conversion Optimization: The Art and Science of Converting Prospects to Customers
A bit more technical, but excellent book on conversion optimization. The book progresses from a quantitative, data-driven approach to a more qualitative style. This book covers pretty much everything you could ever want to know about improving your website’s conversion rate. A must-read.

Even though the SEO landscape is changing all of the time, this book will introduce you to the most fundamental and still relevant components of Search Engine Optimization. If you are looking to do any DIY SEO, this is the first, and maybe only, book you should read.
